Do you remember your first? No, not that first. First smile, first scraped knee, first time you felt totally and completely happy? I bet you don't, nobody does. These precious moments happen so early in our lives, that we are too young to acknowledge them.
I was always wondering, how much of their childhood will my kids remember? I do take a lot of pictures. They will be able to recreate their experiences by looking at these pictures. But will these be true memories, or just mental reflections of images they see and stories of the past that they hear?
This is the first hike of my favorite 3-year-old. Will she remember the smell of the forest? Giant fern leaves with water drops in them? My hands, helping her through rough patches?

Birdbath
It's amazing how simple objects can transform ordinary into magical. A couple of weeks ago I picked up a birdbath for my garden. My 3-year-old decorator was with me. She insisted we get the one with the frog and a fish (what else is new?) As a result I have this thing happily living in my garden. Kids love it. And it kinda grew on me too.
